Mindfulness is a state of mind, which is defined as “focusing one’s attention, in the present moment, in a non-judgmental way” (Jon Kabat-Zinn).
In our society, we are constantly rushing, from one place to the next. We mostly run on auto-pilot and our resources get depleted. By practicing mindfulness, one gets the control back, in the sense that one finally becomes more aware, is able to discriminate between constructive vs. destructive thinking patterns. One can stop for a moment, and recharge. With awareness, one becomes more present, and one can notice all the subtleties and beauties that life has to offer.
Take a moment to practice this acronym: STOP.
S: Stop for a moment – T: Take three deep breaths – O: Observe your body and mind ( whatever you feel, whether comfortable or uncomfortable) – P: Proceed with kindness (what you were doing)
